Top Bun Topic Sentence: This sentence will clearly state two things: 1. who (character) or what (literary element) will be discussed in the paragraph, and 2. what you are claiming about that character or element.
Top Bun ~ Example Character Katniss’s love for Prim is used to reveal the idea that loyalty to family is more important than loyalty to country. Claim you are making about the character.
Meat Evidence: You must use a quote from the text to support your claim. Make sure you: 1. Provide context for the quote. There must be a sentence between your topic sentence and your quote that adequately explains what is happening in the text.
