What is a habitat? All plants and animals live in a habitat. Their habitat is the environment around them, including the other plants and animals that live there. The habitat provides everything the plant or animal needs to survive. The conditions in habitats across the world vary greatly. For example, the harsh, cold habitats at the poles of the earth are very different from those found close to the equator. Habitats can be divided into land habitats and water habitats. Here are some examples of different habitats.
