Symbiotic Relationships • The remora and the shark have a • • commensalism relationship. A commensalism relationship is when one animal benefits and the other isn’t harmed or hurt. The remora and the shark have a commensalism relationship because the remora attaches to the shark and feeds off of the prey the shark catches. The remora attaches to the shark to get left over scraps.
Food Web • • • Prefer certain foods Eat fish, sea lions and seals. Tiger sharks eat boat cushions, tin cans, wood, water bottles, pieces of metal and practically anything left in the ocean. Sharks eat baby whales but they can not eat adult whales. The whale shark can eat adult sharks. Seals are in the shark’s diet.
Structural Adaptations • Sharks have six senses, yes I said six! • Sharks have all the senses you do but the six sense is that they • • • can tell when a wounded animal is in the area! These six senses help the sharks survive because they have the advantage because of the sixth sense. Sharks have a tapetum lucidum which helps them see at the bottom of the ocean. You might think that the tapetum lucidum doesn’t help the sharks that much but it does because it is really hard to see at the bottom of the ocean.

Nurse sharks lay on the bottom of the ocean so they can find food. The great white shark weighs about 5, 000 pounds. The great white shark gets its name from it’s white underbelly. The Port Jackson shark can be up to 10 feet.
Effects of Humans on Ecosystem • Humans have effected the ecosystem for sharks • • • because people have been littering in the ocean. This effects them because you can’t live in polluted waters. People kill at least one million sharks a year! Humans are the biggest threat to sharks obviously so we need to stop killing sharks because a lot of sharks are endangered. However the Bull shark isn’t endangered right now.
