Habit 3 Overview (Take notes!) • The Time Quadrants: 1. The Procrastinator • Addicted to urgency • Waits to the last minute • Results in stress and poor performance 2. The Prioritizer • Important, but not urgent • Proactive • Results in control, balance, and high performance 3. The Yes-man • Based on things that appear urgent but are not important • Tries to please others • Results in lack of discipline and being a doormat 4. The Slacker • Waste and excess, fails to use time wisely • Results in lack of responsibility and flakiness
Habit 3 Overview (Take notes!) • Big Rocks vs. Pebbles Prioritize what’s most important first (big rocks), the time left over can be filled in with the less important things (pebbles)
Habit 3 Overview (Take notes!) • Courage Zone vs. Comfort Zone – Courage zone = what is a challenge, what can feel uncomfortable to try. Necessary for growth. – Comfort zone = what you are used to, what you are comfortable doing.
Habit 3 Overview (Take notes!) • Remember the Following: – Don’t base your prioritization or your decisions on fear – Success doesn’t always happen on the first try – Surround yourself with positive peer pressure and eliminate the negative – Don’t make decisions that aren’t worth what you would be sacrificing
