DEVELOP a clear picture of where you want to go in life.
GOALS Things we consciously want to attain, accomplish, or achieve. WHY SET GOALS? 1. You put yourself in control. 2. Goal-setting enhances performance in all areas in life. 3. You increase your level of motivation.
Goal Setting 1. DREAM – what is it that you want to do? 2. VISION – write it down. 3. MISSION – how are you going to get your visions? 4. GOALS short term – 3 months or less long term – 1 year or longer

S. M. A. R. T. Goals Specific – What is it? How will you do it? How often? Measurable – Can you check the progression? Attainable – Do you have the resources to achieve it? Realistic – Is this goal too challenging? T imely – Is there a specific deadline for the goal?
EXAMPLE I will get into shape. Change to a SMART goal. I will join a gym and exercise 2 x a week.
SMART or NOT SMART? 1. To study harder 2. To get a 4. 0 spring semester GPA 3. To become a better student 4. To maximize my study time each day before social activities 5. To improve my next test grade in SS by one-letter grade 6. To find a summer job 7. I want to join a club 8. I want to lose weight 9. To join a sport 10. To locate and research at least five possible summer jobs by February 28 th

ASSIGNMENT 1. In your notes, choose an academic OR personal goal. 2. Write a specific 3 point action plan in achieving your goal. 3. 8 x 11” poster 4. Write your goal on the top of the poster with a picture of your starting and end point. 5. Write and draw the three steps that represent the ACTION plan that you will you be taking to achieve your goals. 6. DUE TOMORROW!!!
