Gustave Jean Jacquet foi um pintor francês de retratos, cenas de gênero e aquarelas. Jacquet nasceu em 25 de maio de 1846, em Paris, e permaneceu na cidade durante toda a sua carreira. Começou sua formação artística formal na “École des Beaux-Arts” em Paris, onde foi aluno de William Bouguereau e, assim, seus primeiros trabalhos foram influenciados pelo pintor. Em 1865 exibiu pela primeira vez no “Salon” de Paris e, em 1875, Jacquet ganhou o primeiro lugar no “Salon” com uma obra intitulada “La Rêverie”. No ano seguinte ele apresentou pinturas em pequenas dimensões, detalhando a vida nos séculos 16, 17 e 18, ao mesmo tempo em que começou a pintar retratos em trajes de época do século 16. Jacquet também pintou retratos de crianças e cenas de gênero. Suas pinturas nem sempre retratavam uma beleza clássica, mas eram vibrantes e cheios de vida.

Biography: Gustave Jean Jacquet was a French painter of portraits, genre scenes and watercolor.

Biography: Gustave Jean Jacquet was a French painter of portraits, genre scenes and watercolor. Jacquet was born on May 25, 1846, in Paris, and remained in the city throughout his career. He began his formal artistic training at the “École des Beaux-Arts” in Paris, where he was a pupil of William Bouguereau and so, his early works were influenced by this painter. In 1865 he exhibited for the first time at the “Salon” in Paris and, in 1875, Jacquet was awarded the first prize at the “Salon” with a painting entitled “La Rêverie”. The folowing year he presented paintings in small dimensions, detailing the life in 16 th, 17 th and 18 th centuries and, at the same time, he began to paint portraits in costumes from the 16 th century. Jacquet also painted portraits of children and genre scenes. His paintings do not always portrayed a classic beauty, but they were vibrant and full of life. Welcome, 1892
