What’s so special about Econometrics by Example?

• The Author: – Damodar Gujarati is a best-selling textbook author and has 42 years of teaching experience. – He is a prominent figure in the field of econometrics and his textbooks are very popular with students …when it comes to getting clear answers to my basic questions, I always reach for ‘Guj’ … I wouldn't try to learn econometrics without the Guj. – Student reviewer on Amazon

• Its unique example-led approach: - Econometrics by Example focuses on one or two examples per chapter which are developed and used as a basis to explain econometric theory -This innovative approach centres on ‘learning by doing’ and anchors the complex subject of econometrics in real-life data and situations. I am quite impressed with the approach. - Brendan Mc. Cabe, University of Liverpool, UK …the book is well structured and provides the student with all that he needs to do empirical work without having to know all theoretical details - Pedro Cerquiera, European University Institute, Portugal

• The engaging and clear writing style: - Given that students notoriously struggle with econometrics, Gujarati’s clear and engaging writing style, borne out of his vast experience, makes the subject-matter easier to understand more accessible for students. The writing style, exposition is great – simple, clearly explained. The material is also very good. - Mike Clements, University of Warwick, UK The writing is excellent. - Heino Bohn Nielsen, Copenhagen University, Denmark

• Broad coverage and fully up-to-date: - EBE offers complete coverage, including modern topics such as instrumental variables and panel data - It makes extensive use of the Stata and Eviews statistical packages and the outputs obtained from these packages are reproduced in the book. - EBE contains an appendix that discusses the basic concepts of statistics in a user-friendly manner and provides the necessary statistical background to follow the concepts. The breadth of material that is covered is very good and a full range of alternative models are presented - Timothy Park, University of Georgia, USA
