GSICS Product Plotting Web Tool Status: 2013 Peter Miu (EUMETSAT) CMA, CNES, EUMETSAT, ISRO, IMD, JMA, KMA, NASA, NIST, NOAA, ROSHYDROMET, USGS, WMO 2013 GSICS Joint Meeting, Williamsburg VA, USA, 04 -08 March 2013 1
Product Plotting Tool Development Overview Concept was initially prototyped by JMA (2011) v The proto-type common Bias Monitoring tool accessing thousands of jpegs daily to display the daily bias of data from instruments. Based on this proto-type, initial requirements were compiled and the first demonstration version was presented in the GSICS joint meeting in 2012 (Beijing). v Additional requirements were specified with support from the GRWG in 2012 and these were implemented. v In addition to this, the tools was regularly updated to support the changing ncml schema for the GSICS products. v Finally, requirements were specify so that it can be use as a THREDDS viewer and these have been implemented (tool was updated to process the invocation URL issued by THREDDS when it is selected from the data set’s meta-data page). v The tool is now ready for its first operational release in 2013 GSICS Joint Meeting, Williamsburg VA, USA, 04 -08 March 2013 2
Plotting Tool can be accessed from the s GSICS Servers 2013 GSICS Joint Meeting, Williamsburg VA, USA, 04 -08 March 2013 3

What Next (in order of priority)? v. Anomaly fixing ? v. Updates for new GSICS products although it is recommended that a common ncml schema should be used if possible. v. New requirements ? 2013 GSICS Joint Meeting, Williamsburg VA, USA, 04 -08 March 2013 5
1 st Ideas for new requirements? v. Currently only Re-Analysis Correction v. Could include Near-Real-Time Correction § Need to coalesce daily files (doable) v. Could include unsmoothed daily results § Need whole new sub-directory with daily results 2013 GSICS Joint Meeting, Williamsburg VA, USA, 04 -08 March 2013 6
2 nd Ideas for new requirements? v. Now plots bias in brightness temperature v. By including Radiance to Tb conversion radiance_to_brightness_conversion_formula: tb=((c 2 * wnc)/LN(1. +(c 1 * wnc^3)/radiance)-beta)/alpha v. Could include Look Up Tables § Need to define standard variables/attributes v. What is needed for DCCs? § e. g. Reflectance Bias, convert from radiance? v. Other ideas? 2013 GSICS Joint Meeting, Williamsburg VA, USA, 04 -08 March 2013 7
