GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS By Luke Porter FYS 101

My Plan For my experiment I recorded the average output of Carbon Monoxide from various vehicles.
How? I did this using a special tool from my fire department called a four gas air monitor.
My test First, I measured the standard air level by going outside, which showed 0 ppm (parts per million) of Carbon Monoxide in the air.
Ladder 5 I measured the output from one of our fire apparatus. The truck is a 2010 model, which means that the motor must take Diesel Exhaust Fluid, or D. E. F. to run. I measured the emissions by putting the device directly in the exhaust pipe. These are the results
Unit 9 Unit 9 is a 1999 Ford F-350 so it does not require D. E. F. to run. The test was conducted the same and the outcome is shocking. The air monitor could not display a number because the level of CO in the exhaust was so high.
My Own Vehicle My truck was also measured. It is a 2002 GMC Sierra, gasoline fueled truck. The results were shocking. My truck puts out more CO than a diesel engine truck with modern safety measures.
What You Can Do! Drive less! Reducing Carbon emissions will reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. Encourage others to do so too. If you must drive, do so in newer vehicles. Preferably smart cars or vehicles with an “Ecoboost”
