Section 3 - Roles and Responsibilities Postal 1) Requestors – responsible for awareness of Green Purchasing policies and should make every effort to purchase products and services that have been identified as Environmentally Preferable (i. e. using coded attributes as an indicator). 2) Buyers (i. e. COs and CORs) – responsible for establishing contracts that support the national Green Purchasing Program. Work with suppliers and vendors to identify and label products and services that are Environmentally Preferable per the criteria established in this plan. Ensure that suppliers and vendors report annually on each of the Environmentally Preferable criteria specified 3) Sellers – to communicate with Postal Service customers about the green services and products available from the Postal Service. To identify and obtain independent certification of the mail products provided to customers (i. e. Cradle to Cradle Certified. TM from MBDC). Note: over 15, 000 MTCO 2 E emissions avoided annually for current Cradle to Cradle certified priority mail boxes. Suppliers and Service Providers Not Included in Main Text of GPP – roles and responsibilities to be incorporated into contract specifications |

Section 6 – Recognition (In Process) Green Eagle Supplier of Year Award While specific recognition criteria for a Supplier Green Eagle Awards Program are an objective for FY 08, some examples of possible award criteria are as follows: Best supplier able to provide greatest number or highest percentage of Green Products as defined in the Postal service Green Purchasing Plan; Best supplier able to delineate/identify/present Green Products in purchasing catalogs in the most user friendly manner; Best supplier able to provide accurate Green Purchasing data in the Postal Service Annual Data Call report (e. g. cost savings, total costs and quantities purchased); and Supplier with best program in place to reduce unnecessary packaging. |

Section 6 – Recognition (In Process) Green Eagle Service Provider of the Year Award Some examples of specific recognition criteria for a Service Provider Green Eagle Awards Program are as follows: Service Provider with best company Pollution Prevention (P 2) Plan; Service Provider with greatest P 2 Accomplishments over the past reporting year; Service provider with greatest number or best Green Purchasing alternatives made available for use on Postal Service projects; and Done most for Postal Service to foster Pollution Prevention and Green Purchasing in past reporting year. For both of these awards categories more work will be done in FY 2008 to determine the best way to manage a Green Eagle Awards Program. |
