Other Green Energy projects: - Use of solar energy/installation of solar panels in the houses - Installation & operation of a Solar Power Plant - Replacement of incandescent/flourescent bulbs to light emitting diode (LED) bulbs - Change of air-conditioning units from noninverters to inverters

- Adoption of energy conservation schemes e. g. roof designs that allow better sunlight, effective and efficient scheduling of equipment and machineries, etc. - Offering of TVET courses related to green energy: • Solar Technology Course • Electrical Installation & Maintenance Technology • Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Technology

GREENING of ONE DON BOSCO TVET-PHILIPPINES

GREENING of ONE DON BOSCO TVET-PHILIPPINES • Inspired by the SDGs, UNESCO, and the Colombo Plan for Cooperative Economic and Social Development in Asia and the Pacific • Adopts the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) concept which was developed by UNESCO as a way to integrate the pillars of education with the common practices in promoting sustainable development • ESD promotes a sense of both local and global responsibility

INVESTING IN GREENING TVET • Greening TVET helps production to advance to more environmentally conscious practices • A ‘green’ worker is a more employable worker; a ‘green’ workforce will enhance the profitability of the enterprise • National governments need to seize the potential for job creation by providing skills needed in the new green sectors • Disadvantaged groups in the labor market (young people, women, persons with disabilities, rural communities and other vulnerable groups) require targeted support to develop their potential knowledge and skills for green jobs Source: (UNESCO, 2017)

GREEN JOBS & GREEN SKILLS

Five Pillars for Greening TVET GREEN CAMPUS Campus Management • Energy • Water • Waste • Pollution Control GREEN TECHNOLOGY Course Offerings • Green tech • Clean tech • Green jobs • ESD program GREEN COMMUNITY Community Involvement • Capacity building • REN tech • Resource support • Unique practices GREEN RESEARCH GREEN CULTURE Fostering Research • REN energy • Water treatment • Green innovations • Waste recycling Promoting Culture • Green values • Green attitudes • Green ethics • Green practices

PARADIGM SHIFT IN TVET • Knowledge • Skills • Attitude with 6 R (Reuse, Reduce, Renew, Recycle, Repair, Rethink)

PARADIGM SHIFT IN TVET curriculum towards the “ 6 R” principles: Reuse, Reduce, Renew, Recycle, Repair, Rethink
