Greek & Latin Root Words Poster Project All words are made up of prefixes, roots and suffixes (endings of a word). They are the meaningful chunks in each word. Too often, readers skip words they don’t know as they’re reading, and this breaks down the understanding of a text. For this reason, readers need to learn how to break down these parts of unknown words. We will be discussing words from the era of Ancient Greece and Rome that influence our words today! This will teach you how to decode words that you don’t know! To share as many roots as possible, you will be required to investigate a root word to provide important information about that root for your classmates. You will need to create a poster that will help your classmates take notes. The poster has to contain: q Root word with the definition q Tell if it is Greek or Latin origin q At least 5 examples of words from that root’s family & their definitions as they relate to the meaning of the root q A visual or a slogan to help remember the meaning of the root Root: Therm Definition: “heat” Origin: Greek Word family: 1.
