Greek Gods and Goddesses Residing on Mt. Olympus are the Greek gods. There are never more than twelve at one time and there a few variable gods.
Greek Gods and Goddesses Here is a table of all the Greek gods and goddesses, in no particular order, to ever be considered Olympians. Zeus Poseidon Hera Athena Apollo Artemis Hades Ares Hephaestus Aphrodite Hermes Hestia Demeter Dionysus
Zeus King of the Gods. Poseidon God of the sea and brother of Zeus.
Hera Queen of the gods. Wife of Zeus. Athena Goddess of wisdom and war.
Artemis Goddess of the hunt and the moon. Apollo’s sister. Apollo God of the sun, poetry, music, and medicine.
Hades God of the Underworld. Brother of Zeus. Ares Terrible god of war.
Hephaestus Crippled blacksmith. God of fire. Aphrodite Wife of Hephaestus. Goddess of love and beauty. Born of sea foam.
Hermes Hestia Messenger of the gods. God of Science and invention Goddess of home and earth.
Demeter Goddess of grain and agriculture. Dionysus God of wine, vegetation, and theatre.
Where were they worshipped? The Greek gods were worshipped in temples all throughout Greece. There were oracles who (supposedly) saw into the future and delivered messages from the gods.
Conclusions As you can see the ancient Greeks had a very interesting and complex culture which they believed in wholeheartedly. I had a lot of fun researching Greek mythology and I would do it again more extensively anytime.
