Prophecy § Christ to be born in the line of King David (Isaiah 11: 1 -5 - confirmed in Matthew 1: 1, 6). § Christ to be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7: 14 - fulfilled in Matthew 1: 18 -20). § Christ to be rejected by His own people, by the Jews (Isaiah 53 – fulfilled in John 1: 11). § Christ to be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11: 12 – fulfilled in Matthew 26: 15).

Prophecy § Christ’s hands and feet would be pierced (Psalm 22: 16 – fulfilled in Luke 23: 33; 24: 38 -40) § None of Christ’s bones would be broken (Psalm 34: 20– fulfilled in John 19: 33 -36) § Psalm 22: 1, 19 record the final words Jesus would speak from the cross, “ELOI, LAMA SABACHTHANI? ” which is translated, “MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME? ” (Mark 15: 34) as well as telling us that there would those who would gamble for His clothing, fulfilled in John 19: 23 -24.

His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity. " 3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 They said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet: 6 'AND YOU, BETHLEHEM, LAND OF JUDAH, ARE BY NO MEANS LEAST AMONG THE LEADERS OF JUDAH; FOR OUT OF YOU SHALL COME FORTH A RULER WHO WILL SHEPHERD MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.
