God expects for us to be grateful

Thanksgiving originated by God and it was a feast w/o leftovers. Leviticus 22: 30 It shall be eaten on the same day, you shall leave none of it until morning; I am the Lord.

In Deuteronomy 26, as well as feasting, God’s Thanksgiving Day included : - Vs. 2. . . Giving an offering to God - Vs. 3. . . Acknowledging God’s gifts - Vs. 10. . . Worshipping God And you shall set it down before the Lord your God, and worship before the Lord

Ungratefulness is an evidence of the sin of unbelief.

18 -21 His eternal. By nature a man wants others to be grateful for graces he extends.

Sadly, increasing numbers of people refuse to give to God what they expect from others BUT. . . This is nothing new !

Romans 1: 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, . . .

I. Thanksgiving did not originate in the United States. II. God desires true gratitude, not just “the giving of thanks” III. Gratitude and ingratitude are moral issues, not just a question of manners.

Our irritation at ingratitude is a witness against us for our ingratitude to God.

What is gratitude : . . . It is an attitude of heart. . . It is a sincere feeling of delight * It is a spontaneous, emotional response that reflects ones heart

Hebrews 12: we 28 receive a Therefore, since kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

God owes us nothing, but He has given us everything. The earth and the air. . Gen. 1 -2 All we consume. . . Psa. 50

Acts 17: 28. . . for in Him we live and move and exist, Col. 1: 17. . . in Him all things hold together. James 1: 17. . . Every good thing given and every perfect gift Matthew 5: 45. . . Causes sun to rise on the evil and the good,

Luke 6: 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

III. Gratitude and ingratitude are moral issues, not just a question of manners. IV. Ingratitude is a disease. How do we cure it ?

We start by recognizing : - Who we are - What we deserve

Like Paul, we do not deserve salvation I Timothy 1: 15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.

Like Paul, salvation puts us in His debt I Corinthians 15: 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

People who take sin lightly also take the savior and take His salvation lightly.

Salvation engenders great gratitude. I Thessalonians 5: 16 -18 Rejoice always; 17 �� pray without ceasing; 18 in everything �� give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Are you a child of grace ? Are you walking in His saving grace? Is your heart filled with gratitude for His unmerited favor ?

When you are saved and you know it, your heart will be filled with gratitude and Peace. Come to Jesus Now !
