Location § The grassland are called different names in different areas. In the American West they are called Prairies. In Southern Africa they are called Veld. In Southeastern Australia it is called Rangeland. In Central Asia they are called Steppes. South America it is called Pampas.
Continents § Some grasslands are in Africa, Europe, South America, North America, Asia, and Australia.
Climate § It is not too hot and not to cold. It is warm. There are blizzards with hail. The winters are icy cold with a blanket of snow. The rainiest season is spring and summer. The hottest temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit. There can be strong winds and droughts
Plants § Some of the plants are the purple needle grass, wild fox tail grass and buffalo grass. They all have in common that they all have blades. If an animal steps on it will bend back. It has underground stems, and buds and will not be easily destroyed by fire.
Animals § Some animals that live in the grassland are bison, gophers, and antelopes. The steppes have similar animals like lynx, and falcons. Most of the animals are plant eating animals.
People § People use rich soil for farming. They plant corn, wheat, and other grains. They raise cattle and sheep. They are taking the grasslands land for their crops. The farmers can use little bit of land to save their biome.
