Our Learning for Today… 1. Graphing from Slope Intercept form (y = mx + b) 2. Finding the x and y intercepts of a line 3. Graphing a horizontal and vertical line

Using a Data Table To Plot a Line Graph the line y = 3 x + 1 using a table of values

Graphing from Slope Intercept Form Graph the line y = -2 x + 4 Slope = ______ Y intercept = _____

Graphing from Slope Intercept Form •

Graphing from Slope Intercept Form Graph the line 2 x + y = 3 Slope = ______ Y intercept = _____

Graphing from Slope Intercept Form Graph the line 3 y – 2 x = 3 Slope = ______ Y intercept = _____

Finding the x and y intercepts of a line What is the x and y intercept of y = 2 x – 1 ? To find y-intercept, make x = 0 and solve for y (0, y) To find x-intercept, make y = 0 and solve for x (x, 0)

What is the x and y intercept of y = 3 x + 6 X-intercept y=0 Y-intercept x=0

What is the x and y intercept of 2 x + y = 4 X-intercept y=0 Y-intercept x=0

What is the x and y intercept of 3 x - y = 2 X-intercept y=0 Y-intercept x=0

Horizontal Lines Horizontal Line Every value for x will give the same y value y = -2 Slope of a horizontal line is 0 (flat)

Vertical Lines Vertical Line Every value for y will give the same x value x=3 Slope of a vertical line is UNDEFINED (can’t divide by 0)

Graph the following y=5 x = -2 y = -3 x=1
