Graphic Design is a form of visual communication usually associated with industry or advertising. It usually combines images with text to convey information.

Points to consider in your design: The title of only three or four words

Examples of interesting titles, a short message, combined with images This book cover is less interesting with only two colours used, no variety in the text and no images used

Points to consider in your design: THE MESSAGE communicates important information about the topic

Points to consider in your design: The TEXT refers to the Style (font) and of the letters of the alphabet, as well as the numbers and symbols size

Points to consider in your design: The VISUALS are used to support the message. For example – photographs, drawings etc.

Points to consider in your design: The COLOUR Can enhance the message e. g. complimentary colours colour moods: blue for sadness, red for love or anger etc.

Points to consider in your design: BALANCE describes an equal balance of weight (or unequal) between all of the elements of the composition – text, images etc

Points to consider in your design: EMPHASIS describes the focal point or spot of interest within a composition. Dominance or importance given to an area or areas is usually caused by contrast. Contrasting colours Contrasting shapes text etc

Points to consider in your design: OPEN DESIGN extends or goes beyond the edges

Points to consider in your design: CLOSED DESIGN is contained within a boarder or edge – like a box
