The Purpose of Posters • A poster is a two dimension, single page format used to display information, data, schedules, and to promote people, causes, place, products, companies, services, or organizations • Most posters are meant to be placed in public places and to be seen from a distance

Characteristics of A Good Poster • Communicate a clear message • Have a design

Characteristics of A Good Poster • Communicate a clear message • Have a design that is easy to understand legible from a distance • Have a clear hierarchy of Information and appropriate for the subject or audience • Have the right combination of word and imagealso called the verbal and visual • Thoughtful application of elements and principles of art • Express the spirit of the subject or message
