Grammar Today is…. . Goal: Be able to talk about actions that happened in the past using the past progressive. Past Progressive: • We use this tense for a temporary activity in the past, which started in the past and the activity hasn’t finished it actually continues. • We also use this tense for a temporary activity in the past, , but is interrupted by a short action which usually is expressed by the simple past. RULE Pronoun / Noun + was/ were + verb +”ing”
Rules 1. When a verb end in an “e” , drop the “e” and then add “ing”. 2. When a verb has one syllable and ends in a consonant, vowel, consonant , double the last consonant and then add “ing”. 3. When a verb has one syllable and ends in “w” “y” simply add “ing”. 4. When the verb has two syllables simply add “ing”, even if it end in “CVC”.
