They wanted independence. � Direct Object(DO)- Answers the question what or whom. New Yorkers take the subway. (take what? subway) Subway � Indirect Object(IO)- Usually comes between a verb or a IO DO DO. Gondolas give Venetians romantic rides. � Predicate Adj. - Follows a liking verb and describes a quality of the subject � Predicate Noun- Follows the linking verb and defines or rename the subject.

� Complete subject and predicate Ex: Species of plants and animals are disappearing near cities.
� Includes the verb and all the words that complete the verb as if a single meaning. Ex: Metropolitan areas Include suburbs. Complete Predicate
