GRADUATION DESIGN COLLECTION
Through this collection I have tried to portray both the techniques as individually and as a fusion complimenting each other. I was inspired for doodling from a very famous and intricate technique kalamkari, instead I used fabric markers to incorporate doodle art designs into the outfits of this collection. Tie-dye is a very famous technique used from many years in ethnic wear abundantly in our country, in my opinion its time to bring a change and allow this art to flourish globally through western wear.
Doodle Doodles are simple drawings Now Doodle art is growing, its abstract and has unique characteristics make doodle fans increasing day by day. Even without realizing we are creating doodle works. Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class.
Tie and dye Tie-dye is an art form that will always surprise you. The term "tie-dye" is actually a description of the process of creating patterns on clothes or fabrics. A tie-dye artist creates patterns on clothing. They use rubber bands or string to gather bunches of material together. Then, the cloth is dyed. The dye is not absorbed into the areas where the ties are, so unusual patterns form. The result is a T-shirt or fabric with fuzzy spirals, flowery patterns, and flowing, feathery areas. The fabric should be at least 80% natural fiber such as cotton, linen, or hemp. Fabrics made from all polyester or nylon do not hold the dye well.
Indigo dye Indigo plant, named as "Indigofera tinctoria“ In natural form, indigo dyestuff has a color of blue but after reduced to leuco form, the color of the solution turns to yellow. In order that indigo is able to dye the fibre, it needs to be activated (leuco-form). In other words, indigo should be converted into soluble form and the affinity to fibre should be increased. Some chemical reactions are necessary for converting indigo to leuco form. These reactions are called "reduction". Reduction takes place in certain conditions with the presence of hydrosulfite in alkaline medium. To keep the solution alkaline (basic), caustic (Na. OH ) is used. After reducing and dyeing, dyed ropes have to be aerated so that the dye and fibre can be fixed together. This process is called "oxidation".
