Graded Unit Pitch

My story • I have chosen to cover Emerging Scottish bands. Now obviously this has been done before many times so. . • My angle, How hard is it to break in to the limelight? • My story arc will hopefully follow the stories of two bands and then round up with what records looking for in new upcoming bands.

Radio station • BBC Scotland is my chosen radio station to air my show. • The time of broadcast will be 1 pm till 2 pm which coincides with their show The culture show.

Radio station style • The station has a relatively slow pace making it easy for the target audience to keep up with and understand. • It has a distinctive mix of music and speech, and an informative tone and language. • I feel my topic will fit in well with the chosen station and time.

Target audience • BBC Scotland audiences look for shows about the history, culture and affairs of Scotland. • My package will offer a Scottish perspective about new emerging bands and the difficulties they may face in getting noticed.

My aim • To entertain the audience and inform them about the hard work, that emerging bands, must do to get noticed by a record label and break in the music industry.

My style • I hope to make my package informative to hold the audiences attention. • I’d also to the package conversational, which I feel suits the subject and station style.

The listener • I will keep the listeners interested with a variety of interviews, along with music and effects. • It will be presenter led. • I hope to visit the bands at their gigs so I can get on location recordings.

My research • Many people are always interested in new bands and music but we never actually know where they come from and why they’ve been picked. • Through my research I hope to find out if its more difficult for Scottish bands to make it.

My influences • I have recently listened to BBC radio 1’s stories programmes.

Impressed by… • I liked the presenter style. They talk to the audience but its still informative. • The story arc’s are easy to follow and makes the audience pay attention. • I also like the mix of music and speech.

Interviews • I would like to interview two bands, The Winter Tradition and The Koves. • I would also like to interview a Scottish record label. • I would like to interview these people as I feel they each have something interesting to bring to my package.
