Hello! In today’s lesson you will review converting length using inches, feet, and yards. This lesson consists of an opening, a problem of the day, a math activity, a reflection, and Dreambox if internet is available. All assignments that have this picture are due to your teacher. 2
Standard: 4. MDA. 1 Convert measurements within a single system of measurement, customary (i. e. , in. , ft. , yd. , oz. , lb. , sec. , min. , hr. ) or metric (i. e. , cm, m, km, g, kg, m. L, L) from a larger to a smaller unit. I CAN Statements: • I can convert feet to inches from a larger to a smaller unit. • I can convert yards to feet from a larger unit to a smaller unit.
Essential Questions: § How many inches are there in 1 foot? § How many feet are there in 1 yard? § How do I convert a larger unit to a smaller unit? Materials and Resources: • Manipulatives (If internet is available) • Paper and Pencil • Dreambox (If internet is available)

Activity # 1 Standard Review Equivalent Measures • 1 foot (ft) = 12 inches • 1 yard (yd) = 3 feet When you convert larger units to smaller units you multiply. 5 ft. = ____ inches Think, feet are larger than inches, so you will multiply. There are 12 inches in one foot, so 12 x 5 = 60. 5 ft. = 60 inches
Activity # 1 Standard Review Continued… Let’s Try It: 4 yd. = ______ ft. Think, yards are larger than feet, so you will multiply. There are 3 feet in one yard, so 3 x 4 = 12 4 yd. = 12 ft.

Howblack many feetsnake was the hallway? The yellow and black snake was 48 inches. How many feet was the snake? _____ feet long was the snake? _____ 3. George measured a wall that is 4 yards in length. How many feet is the same length as 4 yards? _______
Activity #4 Reflection: Today you have reviewed converting length into inches, feet, and yards from a larger unit to a smaller unit. What was one thing you did well with today's lesson? What is one thing you need additional help with? Write down the answers to these questions on a sheet of paper.
If internet is available, please login to Dreambox and work for 10 minutes.
Great job, mathematicians! Please make sure you have written down your answers to each question from today’s activities that are due and place your work in your book bag to give to your teacher when you return to school.
