1 John Series 1 John 5: 4 -5 Victorious In Christ

“For” = Because. God’s commandments are not burdensome, because of the power that comes with the new birth in Christ.

“Whatever” - PAS Everyone of the human race, (specifically all believers). * Everyone has an opportunity for salvation.

“Is born”, - GENNAO means begotten, born, brought forth.

The Perfect, Passive, Singular - there is only one birth, the believer's new birth at the moment of salvation, which he receives from God.

Once we are born again we remain in that state eternally. "who has been born"

“Of God" - Genitive of Source. God is the one who gives us our new birth. God is the one who gave us 40 things at salvation. “from the source of God”

2 Peter 1: 4, “For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. ”

John 3: 6, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. ”

"Overcomes" - NIKAO To conquer, prevail, or have victory.

We who are believers in Christ, who is our victor, share in His victory over sin and death, 1 Cor 15: 5556, and therefore, we too are victorious. “is victorious over”.

The victory over sin and death is categorized in the phrase, "the world", KOSMOS = order, arrangement or decoration. Satan's Cosmic System

Satan’s plan is evil. Evil leads to sin, and sin leads to death, therefore, all believers are victorious over sin, evil and death being in Christ positionally.

You are no longer a slave to sin; sin has been defeated.

Positionally, we are overcomers in Christ, but experiential victory is something else.

The initial victory over the Cosmic System occurs at the moment you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“The victory” - NIKE. Victory in a battle or in the games. Here it refers to our initial victory in Christ; our positional victory being in union with Christ. Cf. Mat 12: 20; 1 Cor 15: 54 -55, 57

Mat 12: 20, “A battered reed He will not break off, and a smoldering wick He will not put out, until He leads justice to victory. ”

“That has overcome”, A reference to that moment when we believed in Jesus Christ resulting in a perpetual state of being. "that has been victorious over".

Jesus won the victory over the world, John 16: 33, and God in us, 1 John 4: 4, gives us the victory.

John 16: 33, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. ”

1 John 4: 4, “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. ”

“The World” - KOSMOS (Satan's Cosmic System) “The victory that has been victorious over Satan’s Cosmic System”

How is this victory achieved?

How is this victory achieved? “Our faith” towards Christ is what has afforded us victory in Christ.

"Because everyone of the human race who has been born from the source of God is victorious over the world (Satan's Cosmic System), and this is the victory that has been victorious over the world (Satan's Cosmic System): our faith".

The Net Bible, "Because everyone who has been fathered by God conquers the world. This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: our faith. "
