Action Plan to curb Fake Medicines • Biannual inspections of manufacturing units • Annual inspection of drug testing labs/sales units • Drawing of drug samples from manufacturing and sales units and govt. hospitals • Action will be initiated in case of spurious, adulterated and misbranded drugs • all DAOs will identify unauthorised sale of medicines which are usually found in tents, roadside and play grounds and take necessary action in their respective jurisdictions • introduction of sales licence for ayurveda, unani and siddha medicines 17

ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE YEAR 2015 -16. • 42. 50 Lakhs out patients and 1. 70 lakhs inpatients have taken AYUSH treatment across the state. • Approximately 1800 school teachers have trained who in-turn impart the yoga training to their school children to improve physical as well as mental ability. • The department has carried out AYUSH Awareness programmes, “AYUSH Health camps”, and “Home Remedy” programme to benefit the common people. ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE YEAR 2015 -16 contd. . • Govt. has upgraded Kalburgi, Roja (B) Govt. Unani Dispensary into 50 bedded Hospital in Kalburgi City. • Govt. sanctioned 100 bedded Govt. Unani Teaching Hospital attached to Govt. Unani Medical College, Bangalore. • P. G. Courses in 5 subjects started in Govt. Homoeopathy Medical College, Bangalore • U. G. intake of students enhanced from 40 to 100 at Govt. Homoeopathy Medial College, Bangalore. 24

• For effective implementation and utility of AYUSH medical system Govt. of Karnataka in collaboration of Govt. of India has implemented National AYUSH Mission. • For Effective Public Health Service the Department is implementing programmes to strengthen AYUSH Educational institutions, Hospitals and Dispensaries by providing necessary infrastructure and awareness through I. E. C. • As announced in the Budget Speech of 2015 -16 the department is to start 50 bedded combined AYUSH Hospitals at Gadag and Mangalore. • The department has Conducted Home Remedy, Health camps and I. E. C. Programmes in the Rural areas of the state. 25
