Non. Example . Point A location with no shape or size.
Point A point is represented by a capital letter. Ex:
Non. Example Line A straight object made up of points and has no thickness or width. Exactly one can go through any 2 points.
Line You can name a line by any two points on the line. Always put a line above the two points with an arrow on both ends. Ex: AB
Non. Example Picture Plane A flat, two-dimensional surface that extends infinitely in all directions.
Plane You can name a plane by a capital letter. Ex: P Or by at least three points that do not all lie on the same line. Ex: ABC
Non. Example Picture Collinear Points that lie on the same line.
Non. Example Picture Coplanar Points that lie in the same plane.
Non. Example Picture Line Segment Part of a line with two endpoints.
Line Segment You can name a segment by its two endpoints. Always put a line above the two points (with no arrows) Ex: AB
Non. Example Picture Ray Part of a line that has one end point and extends indefinitely in one direction.
Ray A ray is always named by it’s endpoint first and then another point on the ray. Always put a line above the two points with an arrow on the right side only. Ex: AB
Non. Example Picture Opposite Rays Two rays which share an endpoint and extend indefinitely in opposite directions.
Non. Example Picture Angle The space measured between two rays which share an endpoint.
Angle An angle is formed by two rays with the same endpoint. The rays are the sides of the angle and the common endpoint is the vertex of the angle. < TOX or <XOT
Non. Example Picture Straight Angle An angle whose measure is 180 degrees
Non. Example Picture Acute Angle An angle whose measure is less than 90 degrees
Non. Example Picture Obtuse Angle An angle whose measure is greater than 90
Non. Example Picture Right Angle An angle whose measure is 90 degrees
Non. Example Picture Adjacent Angle Two angles which share a common side and vertex but have no common interior points (they do not overlap).
Non. Example Picture Midpoint A point that divides a segment into two congruent segments.
Non. Example Picture Bisector A point, line, ray, or segment that divides a segment or angle into two congruent pieces.
Non. Example Picture Linear Pair A pair of adjacent angles with noncommon sides that are opposite rays.
Non. Example Picture Vertical Angles A pair of nonadjacent angles formed when two lines intersect.
Non. Example Picture Complementary Angles Two angles with measures that have a sum of 90 degrees.
Non. Example Picture Supplementary Angles Two angles with measures that have a sum of 180 degrees.
