Good Morning! Welcome to Hillcliffe Junior Church Online. Today we are going to look at a really amazing miracle.

I’ve been looking forward to this miracle for weeks. Yes, it’s the most important miracle Jesus did and we are part of it. WOW!

We have looked at 14 miracles in this series. If you want to look again at the miracles we have covered click on me and I’ll show you.

What’s today’s miracle about? Well this week’s story follows on from last week’s story. Do you remember what happened last week? Jesus was arrested by the soldiers and taken away.

What happened after the soldiers took him away? We’ll find out soon but let’s sing first. OK! I’ll go and find the music man.

Good Morning. I’ve got some good songs today. Hello! Who’s your friend? I’m not sure, but he’s been following me this morning. I hope he likes the songs.

Let’s jump and sing to worship God with these songs. Lord I lift your name on high God’s love is bigger One Way

Why are you so bouncy? I just love dancing to the songs about Jesus. Well you need to calm down now because we are going to watch the video. Can you get it for me please?

This was really sad because Jesus was killed. It was sad but then Jesus came back to life again. Wow! That is the greatest miracle. Are we sure he was dead?

My men made sure he was dead. Then we guarded the tomb. He was dead. I stuck my spear in him.

So Jesus definitely died and was buried. The Bible tells us of 12 occasions when he appeared to at least 513 people. So he definitely came back to life. But why did he have to die?

John chapter 20 verses 24 - 26 Thomas (called Didymus) was not with the followers when Jesus came. Thomas was 1 of the 12. The other followers told Thomas, “We saw the Lord. ” But Thomas said, “I will not believe it until I see the nail marks in his hands. And I will not believe until I put my finger where the nails were and put my hand into his side. ” A week later the followers were in the house again. Thomas with them. The doors were locked, but Jesus came in and stood among them. He said, “Peace be with you!”

John chapter 20 verses 27 - 30 Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here. Look at my hands. Put your hand here in my side. Stop doubting and believe. ” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you see me. Those who believe without seeing me will be truly happy. ” Jesus did many other miracles before his followers that are not written in this book. But these are written so that you can believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Then, by believing, you can have life through his name.

We have seen that in all his life, Jesus didn’t do anything wrong. His life was perfect. God wants us to be like Jesus but we mess up and do things wrong. We call this SIN and God hates SIN! SIN separates us from God.

But God loves us, doesn’t He? He does but when we do something wrong it separates us from God. Our SIN needs to be got rid of. When Jesus died, he took our SIN and was separated from God, instead of us.

So when Jesus died, it should have been us not him? That’s right. But the miracle is that God loves us so much, this is what he had to do, to save us. When Jesus came back to life, it showed that God’s plan had worked.

In the reading, Thomas still struggled to believe in Jesus. Yes he did, we all do. But Jesus promised that if we believe in Him, we will have life. Jesus also promised us he would be with us always. So we just have to trust Jesus.

Let’s talk to God now. Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to die in our place. Thank you that you forgive us if we trust Jesus. Help us to try and live for you each day and tell others about how you change lives.

So let’s go over today’s points again 1 Jesus had to suffer and die so that we could be free from SIN. 2 3 Jesus dying was part of God’s plan of mercy. Jesus came back to life again to show that His power was greater than the power of SIN. Because of this we can trust His promises.

This verse wasn’t in our reading today, but it tells us Jesus’ greatest miracle.

The beggar’s bowl reminds us of Jesus’ miracle healing the blind man. Jesus gave the man back his sight and showed he could help us see God

The big fish in the net reminds us of the miracle of the Big Catch Jesus showed the disciples he would give them everything they needed if they followed Him.

The sad Lego Man reminded us of the man at the Pool of Betheda – he couldn’t reach the water Jesus healed the man and told him to stop sinning

The life belt reminds us of Jesus walking on water and rescuing Simon Peter. Jesus wants us to trust and follow him even when things might get hard.

The umbrella reminds us of Jesus calming the storm and rescuing the disciples. Jesus is always there for us and wants us to trust Him in everything we do.

The bed reminds us of Jesus bringing Jairus’ daughter back to life, after she had died. Jesus showed that he had power greater than death, and wants us to trust him even when things seem impossible.

The empty coffin reminds us of Jesus bringing the widow’s son back to life. Jesus showed that he had power greater than death, and that he really cares for people.

The wrapped Lazarus reminds us of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Jesus showed that he had power greater than death, and nothing was impossible for him.

The thumbs up reminds us of the sick lady who touched Jesus healed her because of her faith and trust, and showed nothing was impossible for him.

The sword reminds us of Peter trying to defend Jesus by attacking Malchus. Jesus showed his love and power by healing Malchus, even though Malchus thought Jesus was his enemy.
