TYPES OF MOTION Motion Uniform motion Non-uniform motion
DEFINITIONS Uniform motion : the motion of an object is uniform if moves along a straight line and covers equal distance in equal interval of time , howsoever, small these interval it may be. Example: Time (in seconds) 0 1 2 3 4 5 Distance covered (in metres) 0 10 20 30 40 50 Distance travelled in by ball in first second = 10 m Distance travelled by ball in second = 10 m As ball covers 10 m in each second along a straight line so , the motion of the ball is uniform motion.
Non uniform motion: The motion of an object is said to be non – uniform if it covers unequal distance in equal interval of time , howsoever small these interval may be. Example: Time (in sec) 0 1 2 3 4 Distance travelled (in metres) 0 1 3 5 6 distance travelled by ball in first second = 1 m distance travelled by ball in second = 2 m as the ball covers unequal distance in equal interval of time so the motion of the object is non-uniform motion.
