God's Holiness and Man's Sinfulness • Romans 11: 33 -36 - “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him is the glory forever!”

Isaiah 6: 1 -7 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for. ”

God's Holiness (6: 1 -4) • God is on His throne. • The Seraphs are worshiping God. • God's holiness is the focus. • Holy, holy (not love, love) • Isaiah 59: 2 - But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God.

What does it mean that God is holy? • He cannot sin. • Numbers 23: 19 - God is not a man, that He should lie. • He hates sin. • Proverbs 8: 13 - The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. • Application: Do you hate sin like God does? The closer we grow to God the more our hatred for sin will grow. • He will judge sin. • Hebrews 9: 27 - And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.

What is True Worship? • In His throne room God is worshiped how He wants. • We must worship God how He wants to be worshiped. • Here a few questions to ask before singing a worship song: • • Is God the focus or me? Is God mentioned more times or me? Is the song true? Does it please God?

It is the pleasing of God that is at the heart of worship. Therefore, our worship must be informed at every point by the Word of God as we seek God’s own instructions for worship that is pleasing to Him. It is the pleasing of God that is at the heart of worship. ”

God's Name is Holy • Exodus 20: 7 - You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. • Do not take His name in vain by saying, “Oh my God. ” • Do not let culture influence how you talk about God. • Are you honoring God's name as holy?

Our Job is To Declare God's Holiness and Glory • Is God prideful? How can a perfect God seek His own glory? • An author should get rightful credit for his works. • A painter should get rightful credit for his creation. • God deserves all the glory. • Give God the glory for your successes. • Isaiah 42: 8 - I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.

Man's Sinfulness (5 -6) • Woe is me! • Is your sin serious? • We realize our sin is serious when we have the right standard (God's holiness. )

Man's Sinfulness (5 -6) • People seek to escape feelings of guilt in: • • • Travel Movies Romance novels Thrill seeking Video games Virtual reality • They make themselves busy in trivialties to avoid being confronted with their guilt.

Let's Look in the Mirror; Who are We? • Prideful • Lazy • Lustful • Selfish • Greedy • Disrespectful • Rude • Unkind • Impatient • Quarrelsome

Let's Look in the Mirror; Who are We? • Hot tempered • Unloving • Unfaithful • Liars • Deceitful • Anxious • Complainers • Argumentative • Afraid • Bitter

Let's Look in the Mirror; Who are We? • Boastful • Judgmental • Divisive • Gossipers • Immodest • Apathetic • Conceited • Discontent • Foul mouthed • Corrupt

Let's Look in the Mirror; Who are We? • Double tongued • Foolish • Contentious • Stubborn • Gluttonous • Disobedient • Rebellious • Drunk • Envious • Vengeful

Have You Come to the Point Where You Can Say “Woe is Me? ” • We are all in this list. • We need to come face to face with who we are. • This is not the end of the story. . .

Man's Sinfulness God Forgives! (7) • Moving forward from “woe is me. ” • Isaiah 6: 6 -7 - Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for. ” • God can take away your guilt. • He took away Isaiah's guilt after he confessed. • 1 John 1: 9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. • Application: • Have you confronted your own sin. • If you have confessed aready, embrace His forgiveness!
