V 17 It is popular to dilute the meaning of fear Original Word: ירא to be afraid, and claim that it means respect Fear is a healthy part of a relationship. Moses at the: Burning Bush and Mountain of God It becomes destructive when it dominates. God is to be feared, and His commandments are to be taken seriously There are serious consequences to disobeying God’s laws. Not to fear is foolish (Proverbs 9: 10: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom) Fear is preventative. (Proverbs 16: 6) Righteousness is a covenantal V 18 “He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you. ”(Exodus 15: 26)

David’s Response David calls to praise Him (VV 20 -22) His Angels His heavenly host His servants All his works The Hebrew says: Bless, Baruch which literally means to kneel. Praise is less sound, more subjugation/Submission. Praise is a lifestyle. It is not God’s will for us to be suspended in a state of stupor at the realization of His greatness. There is a life of obedience to His word to be lived. This is our worship to God. Original Word: שחה , to bow down. Jesus walking on water: They worshipped Him. Matthew 14 שחה in Hebrew means: prostrate Worship is an attitude. All these expressions convey an act of submission to the Elohim Gadol.

A Challenge We have dwelt on God’s Greatness We rejoice in that Eluheinu Gadol God’s righteousness, justice, love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion and revelation are so expansive, they overshadow all else. How will it impact our lives this week. Is our worship a monotonous ritualistic routine? Will it be aid of us: “"These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men. ” Isaiah 29: 13 Do we worship our Eloheinu Gadol, as an expression of submission and prostration which springs from gratitude for His great /love/patience/healing/ Righteousness/Justice/ Compassion and redemption May the latter be true of us, who are present here today.
