Outline • • Introduction Objectives Current progress Future work 2 © Cranfield University 2018
Introduction • Internship is based in Galileo science service centre in ESAC, Madrid (GSSC ) • There are 8 people working for GSSC. Lead by Dr Javier Ventura • Main supervisor is Vicente Navarro and with 3 other sub supervisors who help for this project. • Weekly meeting on the progress of the project. 3 © Cranfield University 2018
Introduction • In May 2016 google announces the availability of GNSS raw measurements from android 7 • Opens doors to develop many advanced GNSS processing technique. Where developers can introduced external corrections • Application – augmentation reality, location-bases advertising, mobile health and management etc. How to access the raw measurements • Until Android API 23, this was limited to the data namely: GPS satellite information (C/No, azimuth, elevation, NMEA sentences and PVT solution with the proper time stamp. 4 © Cranfield University 2018
Three fundamental classes 1. 2. 3. Gnss. Measurments Gnss. Clock Gnss. Navigation. Message These data are directly come from the chipset and we don’t not have direct access to the chipset. 5 © Cranfield University 2018

Objectives • Develop a python bases software to extract the raw measurements for post processing • Investigate on the quality of android smartphones GNSS measurements by comparing to the IGS receiver at ESAC. • Compute the PVT by pseudorange which is compute from raw measurements • If time allows possibly apply ionosphere (+and troposphere) corrections to get more accurate data • Give access to the public to record there own data and to analysis with the software develop. ( crowdsourcing) • To investigate possible other application of the raw data. • With the research write the master thesis. 7 © Cranfield University 2018
Progress Up to Date • • • 8 Raw data is obtained using a app developed by google. Use GEO++ app to compute These raw data is processed using a iterative python note book known as jupter lab © Cranfield University 2018
Experiments with IGS receiver • S 8 phone next to the IGS receiver • S 8 phone tilted 60 degrees (open sky no clouds) 9 © Cranfield University 2018

Future Work • To work towards the objectives of this projects. • To look into other application of using raw data • To complete the master thesis in given time. 11 © Cranfield University 2018
