BUDGET APPEAL (n): • A budget appeal is a statement that tells your institution

BUDGET APPEAL (n): • A budget appeal is a statement that tells your institution and GMSP that your financial aid need has increased. When you submit the document, you may be eligible for additional funding from the GMS scholarship and other grant/aid.

BUDGET APPEAL PROCESS • Fill out the Financial Aid Office’s (FAO) budget appeal form.

This form is available online at http: //financialaid. berkeley. edu/forms • Submit this document before March 1 st with the words “GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLAR” written clearly at the top. Please note that most budget appeal requests take about 3 weeks to process and that the month of February is the shortest month of the year* So submit in January! • Submit a request for a budget appeal from http: //www. gmsp. org/ at the same time that you submit your appeal form to Berkeley’s FAO. • Only ONE award allocation may be considered for each academic year.
