GMOD Americas 2011 is an 8 day gathering of the GMOD Community featuring a community meeting, satellite meetings, and a GMOD school. If you are looking to exploit (or just get a handle on) your recent or coming datasets, please consider attending one or more events at GMOD Americas 2011. GMOD is a collection of open source software components for managing, visualizing and annotating biological data. It is also an active community of biologists and developers addressing common challenges with a shared tool set. Community Meeting Two full days of presentations & discussion on GMOD components, best practices, and project direction, featuring GMOD users and developers. New, potential, and veteran users are encouraged to attend. A special project overview session will be held the night before to introduce new and potential users to the GMOD project. Satellite Meetings One day of informal special interest group / birds-of-a-feather meetings where GMOD Community members discuss and work on topics of common interest. Sponsored by Spring Training A five-day hands on course on GMOD component installation, configuration and usage. The course will cover many popular components in detail, including annotation tools (MAKER, Apollo), visualization tools (GBrowse, JBrowse, GBrowse_syn), database systems (Chado, Inter. Mine, Tripal), analysis and data integration (Galaxy, GFF 3).
