15. 1 What is Globalisation? Globalisation 30 Globalisation is the increasing social, economic and political interconnection of people and countries around the world.
15. 2 Types of Globalisation 1. Cultural Globalisation Cultural globalisation is the spread of some languages, religions, beliefs, attitudes, customs, entertainments and eating habits around the world. Examples are: Social media English language Mc. Donalds Pizza Hut American music English music 30
15. 2 Types of Globalisation 2. Economic Globalisation Reduced trade ‘barriers’ between countries, such as import–export taxes. International free-trade areas allow the free movement of goods, services and citizens between their member states. Multinational corporations (MNCs) control more and more trade and manufacturing operations. 30
15. 2 Types of Globalisation 30 3. Political Globalisation Some policies and laws are made or greatly influenced by international political bodies. An example of political globalisation is the European Union (EU). The EU has laws that must be observed by all EU countries.

These companies offer well-paid employment to large numbers of people. Many people migrate to cities to work for MNCs. This contributes to the growth of cities, which is called urbanisation. 30
