Global Scholarship Grants
General Requirements Ø Global grant scholars are individuals who are pursuing a career in one of the six areas of focus. Their graduate-level educational goals should support this career interest. ˃ ˃ ˃ Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Disease Prevention and Treatment Water and Sanitation Maternal and Child Health Basic Education and Literacy Economic and Community Development Ø The scholarship is for a term of one to four academic years. Ø Minimum value is $30, 000 (DDF: $15, 000 + WF: $15, 000) Ø Scholarships may not be used for studies that are already underway. Ø Global grants follow a three-step application process: ①Club, ②District, ③TRF
Specific Eligibility Requirements ØThe candidate’s program of study must be at the graduate level. ØThe scholar must be traveling abroad for study. ØScholars must live in their host district while studying. ØCandidate must be admitted to study program before TRF approval. ØThe candidate must be proficient in the native language of the host.
Additional Important Qualities ØPossesses excellent leadership skills and potential ØHas a proven record of success in his/her academic field or vocation ØHas demonstrated a personal commitment to community service ØHas well-defined and realistic goals ØHas concrete ideas as to how he/she will make advances within his/her chosen career field ØIs sincere about maintaining a lifelong relationship with Rotary after the scholarship period
Significant Deadlines Action Clubs submit application to District Scholarship Chair Date NLT 15 December 2017 District interviews all district scholarship applicants NLT 10 January 2018 Initiate online Global Scholarship Grant Application(s) NLT 01 March 2018 Obtain partner district(s) in the country(ies) of study. NLT 01 May 2018 Complete online application in consultation with applicant, partner district and TRF. NLT 15 May 2018 Submit application for final TRF approval. NLT 01 June 2018 Scholar obtain required travel documents (visa(s), etc. ) NLT 01 July 2018 Arrange for transportation to country(ies) of study NLT 15 August 2018
