ONGOING AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS • An ongoing effort – Posters, handouts, kits etc. – Presentations, educational DVD’s for small groups – Condom dispensers – HR forums with unions representatives – HIV/AIDS day • Peer Educators, a success – to promote open discussion – ongoing training of educators
KNOW YOUR STATUS CAMPAIGNS • Internal policy communicated (Guaranteed anonymity, equal rights, social inclusion) • Voluntary testing done from 2005 for all (with undisclosed results) • Testing promoted by Peer Educators and supervisors on an ongoing basis • Counseling • Referrals to MDs by Peer Educators / Supervisors for check-ups and medication
CSR: VALUED CITIZENS INITIATIVE • Making valued citizens through enhancing values in education (self acceptance, respect for self and others, dignity, accountability, love, care, constitutional values etc. ) in schools – Prevention of crime and violence, teenage pregnancy, domestic violence, drug addiction etc. through responsible choices and communication with parents, educators and communities. . . –. . . leads among others to prevention of HIV/AIDS • A GDF SUEZ - Valued Citizens Initiative partnership since 2002 – The Valued Citizens program reached 1775 public schools, 423000 learners and 3500 educators in Gauteng, Limpopo and Free State – The Inspire program was launched in 2009 and reaches already 9000 learners in Northern Kwa. Zulu. Natal
