FACEBOOK Facebook was founded in February 2004, by college student Mark Zuckerberg. • It is a social utility that helps people communicate more efficiently with their friends, family and coworkers. • The company develops technologies that facilitate the sharing of information through the social graph, the digital mapping of people's real-world social connections. • Anyone can sign up for Facebook and interact with the people they know in a trusted environment. FACEBOOK History: • Initially Facebook was set up as an exclusive network for Harvard students. Within 2 weeks, half of the schools in the Boston area began demanding a Facebook network. • Zuckerberg immediately recruited his friends Dustin Moskowitz and Chris Hughes to help build Facebook. • Within four months, Facebook added 30 more college networks. www. Undercover Account Step 1: Create an email account from a free email service (Gmail, Hot. Mail, Yahoo, etc. ) Do Not use your department Domain for your account. Step 2: Use new email address to create Facebook profile. Female profiles seem to work better than male. Step 3: Use the profile, upload images, news links, check in at locations etc. Step 4: Search for people of interest. (i. e. drug gangs, pedophiles etc. ) in order to “Friend” them. Step 5: Block younger profiles from your profile, UNLESS that is your target demographic.
Instagram • Created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and officially launched in October 2010. • Started as a mobile Photo-sharing application. • Hit 100 million users in April 2012. • Purchased in April 2012 by Facebook for 1 Billion dollars. • Hit 300 million users in December 2014. • Currently has an Alexa rank of 24.
