GIVEN YOUR WHOLE HEART TO GOD v Means whole-complete, through and through, the apostles desires is that the sanctification of the believer may extend to every part of his being. I Thess. 5: 23, 1 Tim. 4: 15. v Timothy was to give his whole time and attention to the study of the scriptures and the cultivation and use of the gifts and graces given to him. Timothy was not to divide his attention with worldly aims and callings.

GIVING YOUR WHOLE HEART TO GOD • Jesus said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. Matt. 22: 37 -38 • And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. The Heart - is the seat of moral nature and spiritual life. But whosoever has the world’s good, and seeth his brother in need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion From him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? GIVING YOUR WHOLE HEART TO GOD YOUR TRUST • As a verb means to have confidence, you are persuaded, to hope before. • Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. Jer. 17: 7 • That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom you also trusted, after that you heard the world of truth, the gospel of your salvation: In whom also after that you believe, you were sealed with that holy spirit of promise. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchase possession, until the praise of his glory. Eph. 1: 12 -14 • But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death and doth deliver; in who we trust that he will yet deliver us. 2 Cor. 1: 9 -10 • Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. GIVING YOUR WHOLE HEART TO GOD Your Prayers 1. Prayer is properly addressed to God the Father, Matt. 6: 6; John 16: 23, And also to Jesus Christ the Son of God. Acts 11: 59; 2 Cor. 12: 8 2. There is no instance in the New Testament where prayer is address to the Holy Spirit distinctively, for whereas the Father is in heaven, Matt. 6: 9, and Jesus is at His right hand in Heaven, Rom. 8: 34, the Holy Spirit is in and with believers. John 14: 16 -17. 3. Prayer is to e offered in the name of the Lord Jesus, (John 14: 13) that is, the prayer must accord with His character, and must be presented in the same spirit of dependence and submission that marked Him. Mark 11: 26, Luke 22: 42 4. The Holy Spirit, being the sole interpreter of the human heart, makes His intercession therein; and inasmuch as prayer is impossible to man apart from His help. Rom. 8: 26 5. Believers are exhorted to pray at all seasons in the spirit. Eph. 6: 18.

GIVING YOUR WHOLE HEART TO GOD YOUR REPENTANCE Means to change ones mind or purpose, involving a change for the better. • Repentance when used as a verb, means to regret, to repent oneself. Matt. 21: 29 • Repentance as a noun means is the active turning from sin to God by the exercise of faith John 3: 3, 9: 38, 1 John 1: 9 • Repentance from sin is the requirement God expects of man. Acts 17: 30 • Man is expected to produce fruit in keeping with repentance. Luke 3: 8 • Man proves he has changed by his deeds. Acts 26: 20 • The parable of the Prodigal Son is an outstanding example of this, were a change in mind involves both a turning from sin and a turning to God. Christ begin His ministry with a call to repentance (Matt. 4: 17), but the call is addressed, not as in the old testament to the nation but to the individual.

BE FAITHFUL • The word faithful is used in two senses, the passive and the active. • In the passive, to be faithful, to be trusted, to be reliable is said of God. 1 Cor. 1: 9, 10: 13. • In the active, it signifying believing, trusting, relying. • In John 20: 27 the context requires active sense, as the Lord is approaching Thomas for his want of faith.

GIVING OUR WHOLE HEART TO GOD EARNESTNESS INDIFFERENT • Showing deep sincerity and efforts in the work of the church. • Show an earnest gesture of good will to all men. • Determined, eager, zealous and earnest in the attempt to lead souls to Christ. • See the worship of God as a important and vital nature of man, not trivial or petty. • Serves God with a serious and purposeful intent to obey his word. • It is neither good or bad the state of our society. • It does not matter one way or another about the Lord. • I have neither interest or concern about the church. • There is neither right nor wrong in worshipping God. • I have neither active nor inactive quality in attendance each Lord’s Day.

GIVING YOUR WHOLE HEART TO GOD EARNESTNESS • Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. Luke 13: 24 • And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. 1 Cor. 9: 25 • Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel. Phil. 1: 27, 3: 14 INDIFFERENCE • Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scouring of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud. Ps. 123: 4 • I was a stranger and you took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not, sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Matt. 25: 43 • And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matt. 24: 12
