Regional Transport Routes • Transport routes classified based on Regional Significance: – National and State Roads - comprising mainly ‘priority’ projects – Regional Strategic Roads - comprising ‘encouraged’ projects – Local Strategic Roads - comprising ‘supported’ projects • Consulted extensively with: – Member councils – Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure (DTPLI) – Vic. Roads
Routes and Project Identification • First step was to better understand: – Key industry areas and their destinations. – Constraints impacting freight movements across the region. • This identified the strategic road network across the region and the general locations of potential projects. • The work of SEATS was an important cross-border context setting for regional road priorities developed by GRRG.
