Highland Violence Against Women Partnership • Existed in some form since 2002 • Reports to Chief Officers Group • Shares areas of concern & activity with other areas of Public Protection, particularly child & adult protection and MAPPA • 3 year work plan cycle connected to national VAWG Strategy, “Equally Safe” • Partnership staff hosted by NHS Highland with a multi-agency remit

Violence Against Women – Value of Partnership • Survivors experiences central to informing our work • Development & promotion of consistent messages • Prevention – needs to be across a range of services • Implementing of new processes and procedures, e. g. MARAC • Pooling of Resources • Training informed by practice
Current Activity • Continued training programme, including routine enquiry and MARAC, but also psychological trauma, forced marriage & FGM • Development of shared work plan between VAWP and CPC following review of child’s plans • Protocols for MARAC to improve information gathered and close feedback loop • Updated action plan to address perpetrators • Relocation of forensic suite – for both adults and children
2018 – 21 Highland VAWG Work Plan Outcomes: 1 – Incidence of VAWG is reduced 2 – Society has reduced tolerance of VAWG 3 – Staff are confident in identifying & responding to VAWG 4 – Increased levels of reporting of VAWG 5 – Women and children’s safety needs are met 6 – Women and girl’s wellbeing needs are met 7 – Perpetrators of VAWG are supported to change behaviours 8 – Perpetrators of VAWG are held accountable and sanctioned for their actions
