Meet the Pikes Peak BOCES • We are nine member districts strong! Big Sandy, Calhan, Peyton, Elbert, Ellicott, Hanover, Miami-Yoder, Edison, and Fremont Re-2! • We support 3, 687 student learners in our districts! • We are Pike Peak BOCES!

Pikes Peak BOCES Strengths • As the Administrative Unit we provide a support system for our member districts in the area of Gifted education • We collaborate with our district leaders so that they know, understand are able to support our gifted students in their academic and creative lives • We provide guidance to our member districts on how to support their gifted student population • We provide professional development for all staff members in strengthening their knowledge and depth of understanding about the best research based strategies and social and emotional needs of the gifted student • We provide opportunities for our students to participate in advanced learning activities with other students from our member districts • We encourage the development of student abilities in all the areas of giftedness. • We search continuously for ways to utilize advanced technology for educators, students, and parents

Pikes Peak BOCES • Opportunities Our district gifted coordinators meet together to 4 times yearly for: Collaborating Developing relationships of trust Celebrating our strengths and achievements Continue our journey of professional development to enhance our work with gifted students Problem solve together We also: Provide professional development for our district coordinators and classroom teachers Provide our gifted students with advanced learning activities so that they may interact with academic and talent peers from other Pikes Peak BOCES districts
Expectations of each district’s GT personnel • • • Be passionate about supporting gifted students as well as all students in the district Be willing to continue your journey in learning about the needs of our gifted student population by attending professional development opportunities Be willing to share your knowledge and passion with others in our collaborative times and in your district Inspire your students by understanding and supporting their academic, talents, and affective needs Demonstrate that your gifted students are growing! Demonstrate your strong facilitator skills Complete all ALPS on time with parents, students and classroom teacher involvement • Continue to be passionate about your role in gifted education • •
