GIFI TECHNOLOGY PRESENTED BY Teena Mariam Mathew Rollno

GI-FI TECHNOLOGY PRESENTED BY, Teena Mariam Mathew Rollno : 42 C 6

Why GI-FI The disadvantages of existing technologies; ie Ø Slow rate. Ø High power consumption. Ø Low range of frequency operation. Give invention to this new technology

Currently using technologies: n Bluetooth. n Wi-Fi.

What is GI-FI? n n n GI-FI means gigabit wireless. Worlds first transceiver integrated on single chip. Operates on 60 ghz on the CMOS process. Allows wireless transfer of audio and video data at upto 5 gb per second. Transfer data within an indoor environment usually within a range of 10 ms.

5 mm Gi-Fi chip

Working in GI-FI n Time-division multiplexing. n Intermediate frequency. n Radio frequency. n Hetrodyne principle.

Why 60 GHZ? n Immunity to co-channel interface. n High security. n Frequency re-use. n High oxygen absorption at 60 GHZ attenuates signals over distance.

FEATURES OF GI-FI n Small in size. n Portable. n High speed of data transfer. n Low power consumption. n Cost-effective.

GI-FI ACCESS DEVICES

APPLICATIONS n In wireless PAN networks. n Inter-vehicle communication system. n Huge data file transfer. n Office appliances. n Video information transfer.

Inter-vehicle communication

CONCLUSION. Within five years, we expect Gi-Fi to be the dominant technology for wireless networking.
