Getting to Know the ELPAC
Initial ELPAC Students will take this test when they first enter the state or country. Its purpose is to determine if they are English Learners and should be placed in English Learner classes.

Summative ELPAC English Learners will take this once a year, from February to May. This will (1) measure their progress in learning English, (2) help determine class placement for the following year, and (3) be used for reclassification.

When is the ELPAC? CCA: March 16 - 17 CVMS: March 18 - 20 EWMS: February 19 - 20 PTMS: March 2 - 3 TPHS: March 9 - 13
What is Reclassification? This is the process that identifies English Learners who are ready to participate in regular instruction without further English Learner program assistance.
Reclassification Criteria 1. English Language Proficiency Assessments (ELPAC): Overall ELPAC scale score of Level 4 (Well Developed).
2. Assessments of Basic Skills: a. Level 3 (Standard Met) Scale Score on the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) ELA/Literacy Assessment.
OR b. Students without a SBAC score must have a Reading Inventory (RI) score of at least the lowest score within the grade level Proficient range as well as a passing score (2+) on the District Writing Benchmark (DWB).
3. Teacher recommendation: a. Grade of C or higher in all core academic classes b. Positive teacher feedback on district Teacher Recommendation form 4. Parent Opinion and Consultation
