Details There are 115 community colleges in the state of California. You do not need good high school grades to go to community college. Your diploma and determination are enough! Eleven campuses offer housing. You must apply early to get housing consideration.
Degrees Available CA Associate of Science (A. S. ) and Associate of Arts (A. A. ) degrees are designed to prepare a student for transfer to a 4 -year institution to pursue their bachelor's degree. Ideally, you would spend two years at the CA community college (like your freshman and sophomore year) and the final two years at a 4 -year institution (like your junior and senior years). However, it could take longer than this to get a “ 4 -year degree. ” Your status in college is determined by how many units you have, not how old you are (like in high school).
AAS and AAB Associate of Applied Science (A. A. S. ) and Associate of Applied Business (A. A. B. ) degrees are "career" programs that prepare students for employment. A. A. S. and A. A. B. graduates sometimes pursue a bachelor's degree but should work with their academic advisor to prepare for that transfer.

First Year Experience Program Mt. San Jacinto College’s First Year Experience (FYE) Program is designed to make sure students have a smooth transition into college life. We provide first year students with extra support during their first two semesters, so they connect with the college and identify a degree path that leads to faster degree completion or transfer. As a result, students in FYE are more likely to persist to their second year than their fellow-peers. FYE applications must be received by May 31, 2020 to receive early registration for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. Applications received after May 31, 2020 will only receive early registration for Spring 2021.
Promise Grant The MSJC Promise removes a major financial barrier to attending college by providing first-time, full-time students with FREE tuition beginning Fall 2019 (while funds last).
