Question ● What impact does physical activity while learning have on student achievement and participation? ● Trends showed that students that regularly willingly participate in the classroom and had a choice to how they receive lessons were more likely to succeed.

What I Did To research this question, I decided to use The Walking Classroom

What I Did To research this question, I decided to use The Walking Classroom products that would preliminarily serve as an answer to whether learning while being physically active worked and then would serve as a center choice for students.

Why I Did it? ● Large class that is more engaged as a whole

Why I Did it? ● Large class that is more engaged as a whole when they are actually DOING something. ● Several have trouble staying in a seat very long. ● Allows for multimodal delivery of instruction. ● Activates auditory and kinesthetic learning. ● Provides physical activity in the regular school day.

How I did it? ● ● ● Grant allowed me to purchase 7 units.

How I did it? ● ● ● Grant allowed me to purchase 7 units. Each week I chose 7 different students on all levels to participate. I would give a pretest over the concept we were learning to the whole class. I taught the concept traditionally to the whole class. The seven participants for the week would come participate in the research one day a week during my planning.

How I did it? ● ● ● Students would either go in the gym or the outside playground and listen to the 12 -15 minute podcast while walking. All students would then take the post test over the concept. After data was collected, small groups of other students were allowed to listen to the podcast on other days.

Student Impact ● ● My research showed that the students that participated in the study each week consistently performed better on the posttest than students who did not receive the extra instruction. Students that typically struggle results were the most impacted by the implementation.
