GEORGIA’S BLUE RIDGE, PIEDMONT, AND COASTAL PLAIN REGION
PIEDMONT REGION • • In the Piedmont Region there a lot of rolling hills and large rocks and the ground is made of red clay. In French Piedmont means “Foot of the Mountains”. The Fall line separates the Piedmont region from the Coastal Plain. Did you Know Millions of years ago the Piedmont Region was covered by the ocean?
BLUE RIDGE • • • Did you know that Blue Ridge has part of the Appalachian Mountains? Blue Ridge has the National Forest. The United States Government replanted the land in Blue Ridge.
COASTAL PLAIN • The Coastal Plain Region Has Two parts, The Inner and the Outer Coastal Plain.
INNER COASTAL PLAIN The Inner Coastal Plain has a mild climate. it has the most farms there • The soil here is good for growing peanuts, pecans, cotton, and veggies. •
OUTER COASTAL PLAIN • • • The Outer Coastal Plain is too wet to grow crops. It has live oak and pine trees The wood is used for paper and other wood products.
