Georges Antoine Rochegrosse pintor e ilustrador francs nasceu

Georges Antoine Rochegrosse, pintor e ilustrador francês, nasceu em. Versailles, em 1859. O artista iniciou seu treinamento com o pintor Alfred Dehodencq. Ingressouna “Académie. Julian”, estudandocom Jules Joseph Lefèbvre e Gustave Rodolphe Clarence Boulanger, completando seus estudos na “Beaux-Arts”, em Paris. Seus temas são geralmente históricos, num estilo emocional naturalista, com destaque por cenas dramáticas. Fez sua estreia no “Salon” de Paris em 1882, com a obra “Vitellis Traîné dans les Rues de Rome par la Populace”. Neste mesmo ano foi eleito “Officer of the Legion of Honor”. Em 1894 foi para a Argélia, onde se estabeleceu com sua esposa Marie. Rochegrosse, que faleceu em 1920. Rochegrosse pintou murais para a biblioteca da Sorbonne, em Paris, e também ilustrou vários livros. Alguns dos desenhos destas ilustrações são do “Prints and Drawings at the British Museum”, em Londres. Ele viveu seus últimos anos na Argélia, mas retornou a Paris, onde morreu em 1938.

Biography: George Antoine Rochegrosse was a French painter and illustrator, born in Versailles in 1859. The artist began his training with the painter Alfred Dehodencq. He entered the “Académie Julian”, studying with Jules Joseph Lefèbre and Gustave Rodolphe Clarence Boulanger, and completedhis studies in the “Beaux-Arts”, in Paris. His themes are generally historical, and he treated them in an emotional naturalistic style, especially in dramaticscenes. He made his “début” in the “Salon” of Paris in 1882, with the work “Vitellis Traîné dans les Rues de Rome par la Populace”. In the same year, Rochegrosse was ellected “Officer of the Legion of Honor”. In 1894 he went to Argelia, where he settled with his wife Marie Rochegrosse, who died in 1920. Rochegrosse painted murals for the Library of the Sorbonne, in Paris, and also illustratedseveral books.
