George. Dunlop. Leslie nasceuem Londres, em 2 de julho de 1835. Foi um pintor, escritor e ilustrador inglês. Iniciou seus estudos em Arte na “Cary’s Art Academy”, em seguida, a partir de 1854 na “Royal Academy”. Sua primeiraexposiçãona Academiafoi em 1859. Leslie tornou-se um Associado (ARA) em 1868 e um “Royal Academician ” (RA) em 1876. Seus primeirostrabalhos mostravam a forte influência pré-rafaelitas, masele se estabeleceuem um estilo mais acadêmicode pintura com o objetivode retratar a vida cotidiana inglesa. Leslie também foi um escritor e tinha vários livros publicados, ilustradospor ele em preto e branco, e com base em observaçõespessoais da vida e da naturezaem sua localidade. Eletambém escreveu uma história dos primeirosanos da “Royal Academy” - “The inner life of the Royal. Academy”. O artista foi casado com Lydia e tiveram dois filhos. Morreu em 21 de fevereiro de 1921.
