GEOMETRY IN ENGINEERING Engineers are Problem Solvers Use

GEOMETRY IN ENGINEERING:

Engineers are Problem Solvers ØUse technology to solve problems ØRely on creativity and academic skills ØUse math, science, and computers It is very important to note that even though the tasks are very different, many of the methods used are common to all engineers.

THE ENGINEERING PROCESS: Identify and define a problem Solve The Problem!! Analyze the problem Propose solutions Select and Design preferred solution

z Pyramids Early engineers accomplished some great feats. The Egyptian pyramids are truly an astonishing work of engineering skill. For more than four thousand years they were the tallest buildings in the world. The sides are oriented to the four cardinal points of the compass, with the four sides of the base being as much as 755 feet. They rose at an angle of more than 51 degrees to an original height of 481 feet. They were constructed using more than 2, 300, 000 stones weighing as much as 2. 5 tons (5, 000 lbs) each. Even in today’s world, that would be quite an accomplishment. How did they do that? ?
